The White Stripes Tribute album named "Cabinet De Curiosités" by members of the French White Stripes online community from www.whitestripes.fr
"A cabinet of curiosities was an encyclopedic collection in Renaissance Europe of types of objects whose categorical boundaries were yet to be defined. They were also known by various names such as Cabinet of Wonder, and in German Kunstkammer ("art-room") or Wunderkammer ("wonder-room"). Modern terminology would categorize the objects included as belonging to natural history (sometimes faked), geology, ethnography, archaeology, religious or historical relics, works of art (including cabinet paintings) and antiquities."
This collection of tracks was initiated by Sabby, Editor of the longest running French fansite for the White Stripes owned by Sodwee. Created in early 2004, the website has been around ever since, under a few names already. But it seems we've stuck to www.whitestripes.fr
for now. The fansite is coupled with a message board and a dedicated army of fans from around France, and other french speaking countries from around the world.
The entire album was conceived over the internet, with band members, guitar players, singers, organ and even Glockenspiel players that have and still haven't met in person. Distance, funds and day to day life getting in the way. Although we have known each other for quite some time now, sometimes even met during your concerts. This was probably the most difficult task of all. Getting everyone to complete their assignments and send the finish product to us in order to compile this collection. After many heated debates (over the message board) and some healthy decision making we finally put together this album in honor of The White Stripes and their sprawling career. So again, thanks ever so much for bringing the music all the way to France and hope to see you over here in 2012... and beyond.
has been involved in the artistic direction of successful events around Paris, the French capital, including the Premiere of Under Great White Northern Light at one of the oldest movie theater in town complete with the presence of Emmet Malloy (director) & Mark Sarkissian for a Q&A session just before the projection. We also have organized a special evening for the forum members in a cave in Paris, with plans to take it to Toulouse (in the south of France, for a second edition). But not only, we have been personally invited by The White Stripes to their private concert in conjunction with CanalPlus (a french TV station) and has since been considered one of the best shows worldwide. Maybe partly due to the electrified audience in attendance, we rocked the house... with Meg & Jack delivering a stellar performance.
